We had an old console table in our kitchen, and liked having it there, but when we refinished the table and added the new chairs, we wanted a new console table. This table leverages tapered legs using a tapered leg jig I made. This jig holds the maple stock perfectly so you can make the four repeated cuts on the table saw to create beautiful tapered legs. In addition, this table uses table top connectors that sit in a slot cut all around the apron. This type of connection allows the top to seasonally expand as wood will, but still keeps the top securely fastened to the base. This table was finished with the same stain as the dining room and kitchen table and chairs. The clear coat is polyurethane diluted to be wiped on. This is applied ten times in thin coats. A 3M pad is used between coats to polish/sand.
