Mindy’s Farmhouse Table

on

My sister was looking for a table big enough to fit the whole family, but the right proportions to fit into a space. The plan included a banquette to create ample seating. I also wanted to try an older technique for joining breadboards at the end of a table using loose tenons and pegs, called drawboring.

Drawboring Basics

This technique draws your joints tight by offsetting the holes in the tenon and breadboard slightly, and as you insert the peg, it draws tight. This farmhouse table was finished with a slight faux worn white finish on the legs, and a multi step steel wool and vinegar stain plus multiple stain colors. Ultimately the top was covered in epoxy to increase the durability for the constant use of a kitchen table.
