Maple End Tables

on

I wanted to provide an item for a charity auction at work benefiting Girls Who Code. Building two of any item is typically less than double the work, especially when you consider planning, machine setup, any learning curve, and finishing. So, for this project, I decided to make one end table for our house and one end table to donate for the charity auction. I picked out some great hard maple wood and leveraged the taper jigs and techniques that I used for our larger kitchen console table by leveraging similar proportions scaled down to an end table. These matching end tables included the slot attachment hardware that allows the table top to expand and contract without splitting the top or base. I finished with stain I used on our kitchen table and the console table, and again finished with a ten coats of polyurethane thinned to allow it to be rubbed on.
